AMG Martini :)

Yes it’s Thursday!

Some might call this Thirsty Thursday but for us South Africans, it’s Phuza Thursday!

That translate to a lot of drinking, priming ourselves up for the weekend. This pastime is enjoyed by youngsters around the country, every thursday night. From Icy cold beers to thirst quenching cocktail, whatever your choice if poison is.

I’ve participated in this ritual for many years but been there, done that and got the T-shirt now. I can still hold my liquor, don’t doubt that, I just choose not to go as crazy anymore.

So my version of a Phuza Thursday now is, a drink at home with my husband or occasionally with a girlfriend. I really sound so old, don’t I?

A drink of choice on a Thursday is still a cocktail. I do make the best cocktails, my taste buds keep reassuring me and I choose to believe them!

Anyway, today I’m drinking an Apple, mint and ginger martini a.k.a my AMG martini.

I actually enjoyed an apple and ginger one from a restaurant last Saturday, but thought I could make it better; so I did.

I muddled( crushed) 6 slices of ginger and a handful of mint leaves with a tsp of castor sugar and a shot of lime. Then added ice, 3 shots of white rum( Bacardi) and 3/4 cup apple juice. Shake in a shaker, sieve into a cold Martini glass.

This makes 3 glasses.

And Viola, alcoholic goodness. You really cannot go wrong with mint and ginger!

Health and Nutrition fanatic. I live by a few chants...: 1. Before I do anything whether related to food or not, I ask myself ' Is it worth the calories?' Whether literally or figuratively( i.e. Is the decision worth the stress, effort, investment) 2. What you put in must come out! If you don't let it out, it settles on your tummy and hips. 3. 'Everything happens for a reason'. I try reflect on situations I find myself in, whether by choice or not. And look for Lessons I'm meant to learn from them, in order to grow.
