It is finally here! It is restaurant week South Africa 2014!
Restaurant week is to serious food lovers, as fashion week is to serious lovers of fashion. It promises to be quite a week, with a good selection of restaurants spread around South Africa. The aim is for guests to explore 125 top South Africa’s best restaurant, enjoying food made by the best chefs in the country, at a great price. In all major cities or attractions, for R95 for lunch and R175 for dinner per person. It is running from the 23rd October to the 2nd of November. From Cape Town, the Winelands, the Garden route to Pretoria, Joburg, Durban. This is all organized by DiningCity and a few other sponsors.
I will be exploring Cape Town, with 32 Restaurants participating. There are a few that have been flagged: the most popular- Buitenverwachting in Klein Constantia with 4 stars; the new and one to watch- Borage Bistro with 4 stars as well; and the staff pick( DiningCity staff)- Planet Mount Nelson at the Mount Nelson Hotel with 4 1/2 stars,
I will be visiting 5 restaurants for lunch everyday, for the week.
I will be reviewing the restaurants in terms of; Directions( how easy it is to find), The venue and ambiance, The food and drinks, The service and last but not least The overall experience. Rating out of 10.
I have selected:
Monday: Ashton’s @Greenway in Bishops Court
Tuesday: Grand Cafe and Beach in Granger Bay
Wednesday: Societi Bistro in Gardens
Thursday: Oyo Restaurant & Cocktail bar at the Victoria and Alfred Hotel
Friday: Pescarne in Cape Town, CBD
I hope it all goes well, and hopefully I don’t gain too much weight either. Please try at least one restaurant in your city this week. But be sure to book!
