Phuza Thursday Reloaded
Yay it’s Thursday. I know most people can’t wait for the weekend and Friday can’t come soon enough. But I’ve had a very such a fun week, believe it or not. Even after the funnest week, the previous week, I had with my best friend in Joburg. Loads of chatting, laughing, dancing, hangovers, exploring was done ππ½ππΎππ½π©ββ€οΈβπβπ©. I do love this girl so much and she always know just how to cheer me up and get me back into gear.
After just a few days with her, I feel emotionally and psychologically reconnected and refurbished. Ready to ‘Put my big girl panties on and Take over the world’!πͺπΎπͺπΎ
Anyway. I haven’t done Phuza Thursday aka Thirst Thursday in such a long time. I’d be feeling old π. But with my renewed energy, I’m ready for Phuza Thursday reloaded! ππ½π
The main purpose of my Phuza Thursday experience is to ‘make and drink!’ a beautifully refreshing drink with my family or friends. Patting ourselves on the back for surviving yet another week. But also reflect on the week past.
We resume tonight, as it is Thursday.
Our drink of the day is: Rocket & Coconut Martini
Equipment: cocktail shaker, strainer, muddler( or wooden spoon)
What do I need? Makes 3 cocktails
Fresh Rocket
Ginger ale
Sugar syrup
Lemon juice
Coconut liqueur
Lime flavoured Vodka
Ice cubes
What to do?
In the shaker; put in 8 rocket leaves, 25ml of sugar syrup and muddle into a pulp. You can make your own sugar syrup at home, you don’t have to buy it. It’s simple- Dissolve 1kg of sugar in 1 litre of water. To help the dissolution, use warm water then cool the mixture down. This needs to be a sweet, sticky solution.
When done muddling. Add the blocks of ice into the shaker with the rocket and sugar syrup pulp, up to the brim.
Then 100ml of vodka, 60ml of coconut liqueur, 50ml of lemon juice, top the shaker up with ginger ale.
Shake the mixture and strain into cooled martini glasses( you can cool them by putting some ice in them to the top of the glass while making your cocktail and removing it before pouring your cocktail in).
Garnish with a rocket leaf and serve.
One word, Delicious! The rocket goes amazingly well with the coconut. Stunning wedding going on in my mouth. All three servings are mine…πβΊοΈ
